Potato in Spicy Yogurt Gravy

    Potatoes are the perfect winter food, but they can get a little bland. This recipe for potato in spicy yogurt is a great way to spice up your potatoes and make them more flavorful. The yogurt also helps to cool off any heat from the peppers and spices. This dish is full of flavor and pairs well with red meat.

    Potato in Spicy Yogurt Gravy

    Ingredients

    • 4 Potatoes

    • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

    • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder

    • Oil for fry

    • 1 cup Yogurt

    • 1 teaspoon Salt

    • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder

    • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder

    • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder

    • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar

    • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri Red Chili powder

    • 2 tablespoons Oil

    • 2 whole Red Chili

    • 1 inch Cinnamon stick

    • 1 small green Cardamom

    • 4 Cloves

    • 1 big Onion chopped

    • 1 teaspoon grated Ginger

    • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds

    • 1/4th teaspoon Hing ( Asafoetida )

    • 1 tablespoon Kasuri Methi ( Fenugreek leaves )

    • Chopped Coriander leaves

    Preparation steps

    1. Peel off skin of 4 Potatoes. Cut Potatoes in pieces. Wash Potato pieces with water.
    2. Add 1/2 teaspoon Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder on washed Potato and mix well.
    3. Add Oil in pan and fry Potato till Potato is soft.
    4. Take 1 cup Yogurt in a mixing bowl. Add 1 teaspoon Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon Coriander powder, 1 teaspoon Cumin powder, 1/2 teaspoon Sugar, 1 teaspoon Kashmiri Red Chili powder in Yogurt. Mix everything well.
    5. Add 2 tablespoons Oil in pan. Add 2 whole Red Chili, 1 inch Cinnamon stick, 1 small green Cardamom, 4 Cloves and fry till nice smell comes out. Add 1 big Onion chopped and fry till soft. Add 1 teaspoon grated Ginger, 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds, 1/4th teaspoon Hing ( Asafoetida ). Add Yogurt and spices mixture and mix well. Add 1 tablespoon Kasuri Methi ( Fenugreek leaves ) and mix well. Add fried Potato pieces in gravy and mix well. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
    6. After 10 minutes, open cover and add chopped Coriander leaves and mix well.
    7. Potato in Spicy Yogurt Gravy is ready.
